The quality of this knife is outstanding, without question. I bought the heavier blade for backpacking and a chore knife. I didn’t understand…. lol. The blade is much heavier than anticipated, and will be too heavy to carry backpacking. It will be relegated to my truck as a utility knife. All this said, the quality is great; it’s just the wrong blade for me.
Another superb blade from Dawson, no disappointments just a great tool. Also a thought, make one with a functional saw back?
The Shepard is fine but I was a little disappointed in the outcast- smaller than I thought it was going to be.
Daily I become more impressed with how well this knife feels in hand, the quality, the craftsmanship, and the look. I will be picking more up soon.
This is the first of many Dawsons I see in my future. Awesome craftsmanship.

Very well explained. I have just ordered one of your Javalina knives, and was interested in the blade and handle composition. Reading about both, plus the bending-don’t try this at home-makes me even more excited anticipating the delivery of this blade. And, at 69, it’s not easy to get me excited. Mike

I’ve studied on blade steels a little for the last few years, and this article is the best simplified explanation on 3V that I’ve read. I appreciate it.

Great article, the knife I’ve been using for years is a Blackjack Tac Ops4 1095 blade that was triple heated with sct and dct cryogenic treatments. It has been extremely tough, holds a good edge and is easy to sharpen. I am interested in a CPM 3V knife but I’m not sure about its difficulty in sharpening in the field. Your blades look awesome but most are sold out, so please email me when they become available.
Thank you
