Q. When will you ship my order?

A. We offer same-day shipping on most orders placed before 3:00pm EST, Monday through Friday. You will also receive a shipping confirmation email with a link to track your package.

Q. How will you ship my order?

A. We offer free shipping anywhere in the contiguous United States via USPS Priority Mail or UPS Ground. It's important to note that we do not include insurance or that a signature be required for delivery with our free shipping option. You can add either or both of these for an additional fee during checkout or by calling us at 928-910-0770 before your order is shipped.

We also offer
expedited US shipping and worldwide shipping. Rates vary based on your address and preferred carrier.

Q. Can I make payments on my order? Do you offer a layaway plan?

A. Yes! We've recently introduced Lay-Buy as an interest-free, no credit check payment option for our customers. Read more about Lay-Buy in our blog, The Daily Grind.

PayPal Credit is also available through your PayPal account and offers 6 month interest free financing. For more info or to apply online, visit www.paypal.com/credit.

Q. Is the Arizona Copper finish painted on?

A. No, it is not painted on. We developed our Arizona Copper finish over months of research and experimentation with our heat-treat process. What you see is the color and texture of the raw steel itself. Each is completely unique, requiring a significant amount of skill and time to achieve.

Q. What is Cerakote©?

A. Clear Cerakote is a durable, oven-hardened clear ceramic coating. This clear top layer helps protect your blade from corrosion and maintain the unique good looks of the finish underneath.

Q. What is a hamon?

A. A hamon is the unique visual "hard line" typically associated with Japanese heat-treat techniques that date back over 1,000 years. We have created a sleek, modern version of the traditional hamon and its dual hardnesses in both our Specter and Arizona Copper finishes. Q. Do your knives come with a sheath?

A. Yes! A handcrafted, custom-fitted sheath is included in the cost of every Dawson knife. We offer a couple of different kinds - just have a look at the model page to see what kind of sheath comes with that specific model, or give us a call at 928-910-0770.

Q. What are leather/Kydex© "hybrid" sheaths?

A. Our Hybrid Sheaths feature a rich, chocolate brown leather front and a heavy-duty black Kydex back. The sheath can be carried upright or cross-draw on a belt, or attached to a backpack or vest using the removable rigging straps and d-rings.

Q. What is a Kydex© pocket sheath?

A. Designed to tuck comfortably and discreetly inside a pants or coat pocket, our industry-unique Kydex Pocket sheaths allow you the convenience of a folding knife with the strength and safety of a fixed blade.

Q. What sharpening system do you recommend?

A. We recommend the Work Sharp Sharpening System (Ken Onion Edition). It's a great option to achieve a consistently sharp edge with a minimum of expertise. A diamond hone or even plain ol' crocksticks can also help keep your edge in shape with a little practice. And don't forget, we offer free resharpening on all our knives forever!

Q. How do I return my knife for resharpening?

A. We offer free, professional resharpening for the life of your knife. Return it to: Dawson Knives, 8737 E Florentine RD, Prescott Valley, AZ, 86314. Include a short note with your name, return address and phone number, plus a check or money order for $15 to cover return shipping. We always recommend sending your package using a tracked and insured shipping method.

Q. Will you copy another maker's design or build me my own custom design?

A. We appreciate you considering us for your custom project, but we will not copy another maker's design and we're not accepting any custom orders at this time.
