All the little details...

This is the longest Crusader sword to date Barry has crafted. With each inch of length the sword becomes exponentially more difficult to grind and heat treat. This magnificent beauty was indeed a challenge. Of course, a double edge of any length is incredibly more difficult than a single edge of the same length. This museum piece is an heirloom to be handed down proudly from one generation to the next. Its true value can only be decided by future generations. There is only one Michelangelo and only one Dawson. That banana peel gets more slippery every day; get on board before your paper is measured in pounds rather than dollars.

The powerful blade is 24.5” of double-edged perfection, a light yet incredibly tough example of the European broadsword imbued with Barry’s own classic style. It is ground from ¼” 5160 steel with his sleek Antique gray finish.

The backbone of Barry's reputation for quality blades lies in his own custom heat treat, developed over a 35+ year knife and sword making career of producing tough, battle ready blades that stand up to daily use and hold a superior edge cut after cut.

The handle is rare Arizona Ironwood, a luminous gold and chocolate brown pattern secured to the full tang with Barry's own custom Mosaic Pins and then carefully overlaid with his own signature Interlocking Wrap for comfort, beauty and control.

The guard is also of Barry's own design and unique to the Crusaders, sleek dark gray brushed steel with beautiful notching, scroll-work and decorative twists on both sides.

The Crusader comes complete with its own custom fitted dark brown leather sheath complete with holster stud, ideal for carrying tucked comfortably inside a regular belt or period wear. Approximate overall length is 33 1/3".
